Season Two of The 100 Will Have 16 Episodes
CW boss explains why ‘The 100’ Season 2 is only 16 episodes
Season 2 of The CW’s series “The 100” is going to look a little different than Season 1.
And no, we’re not just talking about how Clarke and Monty and countless others are currently held hostage by thescientifically-advanced, militaristic Mountain Men inside Mount Weather and the Ark is no longer in space. But yeah, those are pretty big factors too.
On Friday (July 18), The CW’s president, Mark Pedowitz, kicked off his time at the 2014 summer TV press tour by discussing why “The 100” Season 2 is going to be longer than Season 1 … but not too long.
“We believe in the storytelling of [Season 1] that was only 13 episodes,” Pedowitz says. “There will be only 16 for this year so [executive producer] Jason [Rothenberg] could do the stories that he needed to do in a very quick fashion to get it out there.”
As for how dark and violent the series became quickly into Season 1, Pedowitz is a fan of the risks Rothenberg has taken, and how it’s paid off for the network.
“The 100” Season 2 premieres Wednesday, Oct. 22 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
